Some like it hot
Us cyclists, we are suckers for the heat. It's inbuilt, somehow. When the forecast displays that beaming yellow symbol, a switch is flipped and instinct takes over. Sun drenched days in the saddle, it just doesn't get better. Until now...
When the road is arduous, switchback after switchback. When the midday heat without shade is testing your body, but you want to pursue the adventure. When the days are endless, time is limitless and your legs are inexhaustible. When you’re hunting the KOM like it’s the last.
So light, you'll fly.
NANO fabric, an uncommon occurance
After intensive testing, we opted to create the ultra lightweight NANO kit with woven fabrics, an uncommon choice in the manufacturing of cycling garments. Our head of R&D, Marie, explains why:
"The benefit is a 360° stretch, which creates an optimal comfort and perfect fit. Additionally, compared to knitted fabrics, woven is 30-40% lighter for the same level of resistance."
When we say 'lighter', we really mean it! Combined, the NANO jersey and bib shorts weigh just 207g in size medium. How can it be possible, Marie?
"The technical fabrics are made from specific high torsion threads, composed of extra fine, high performance polyamide and Lycra elastane filaments. Polyamide brings an incredibly soft touch, while at the same time a good resistance to abrasion. Lycra allows for a very high stretch and elasticity of the fabric."
The NANO concept: So light, you'll fly.
Team KATUSHA ALPECIN rider, Ian Boswell, recently took advantage of the NANO on a hot training camp prior to the AMGEN Tour of California:
"I tested the Nano Jersey yesterday. I have to say that’s one amazing and revolutionary piece of kit! So light, comfortable and sleek. A few questions: How durable is it? Is it sun proof? When can you print a team jersey with that material? I’d love to use it in the tour!"
To which our Head of Product, Mat, responded:
"The woven fabrics used on this kit are 30/40% lighter than knit fabric for the same resistance. So the durability is similar to your regular jersey. The UV protection is 15+ on the white fabric and 30+ on the black fabric. For your information, the open mesh fabric used on your summer jersey is UV 10, due to the open structure. We are testing a printable version of this fabric to use it on the team kit in the future."
Intrigued to try it for yourself? We offer you 30 days to fall in love! Ride in your new KATUSHA products for 30 days and if within this period you are not convinced, we will happily issue an exchange or refund.
