Car Park Cannon Ball
The scene is set.
A downtown car park becomes a night out, as urban life meets urban cycling. The riders are at the centre of a great spectacle, but it’s hard to tell who is enjoying the effort more: the riders or the fans.
RACING IN A HURRICANE OF SOUND
The prize: glory. The DJ sets the tone pumping out the tunes, the music mixes with the roar of the crowd. The riding crew are all there, mingling with like-minded party goers, discovering the enjoyment of a night out in a carpark with no cars in sight.
By now you may have heard the words 'Car Park Cannon Ball' being thrown around a bit. So what's it all about?
REACHING A WHOLE NEW CROWD TO SHARE THE RIDE
KATUSHA has teamed up with à BLOC to create a new out-of-the-ordinary cycling experience, with the aim of reaching a whole new crowd to #sharetheride.
Riders gather at the bottom of a multi-story car park, while the crowd position themselves along the never ending, forever twisting car park climb.
Participants will be racing in different categories: geared and fixed gear, men and women. They will race from the bottom, up all levels of the car park, ending at a party once they’ve crossed the finish line, with live DJ, craft beer and street food.
Riders go two-by-two, with the first heat being a race against time. The fastest 16 of each category then go into head-to-head shoot outs, in order to determine the Car Park Cannon Ball geared and fixie Kings and Queens.
Want one of the first Car Park Cannon Ball Crowns? The first in this event series will take place in Eindhoven, in carpark P0 of High Tech Campus, on September 23rd 2017!
120 registrations are available, with 4 already taken by Pro cyclists from Team KATUSHA ALPECIN: Marco Mathis and Maurits Lammertink, and Team Espresso Mafia à BLOC riders: Liam Yates and Miqui Rueda! Which means if you qualify into the final 16 shoot out stage, you may well be racing against a Pro!
Whether you're racing or raving, it's going to be a party!
Fancy your chances? Come and give it a go, we dare you...
Registrations are open to all cyclists through www.carparkcannonball.cc.
